An award-winning take-away has had a face lift, investing a weighty £250,000 into giving its sea-view location a refresh with a revamp to go over and above for its customers and the environment.
Looking onto the stunning Stonehaven beach front, The Bay Fish & Chips has firmly placed itself as a must-eat location by taking home over 80 awards and being the highest ranked UK entry on the Lonely Planet Ultimate Eatlis in 2018.
A large percentage of the quarter of a million pound spend was poured into sustainability, which has always been a top priority for the business and the reason for its many award wins. The new features include purpose built shallow sinks to reduce water wastage, a zero emissions fryer with 97% gas efficiency and new fridge units to eliminate unused space.
And it doesn’t end there, the brand is even going the extra mile for its customers by installing a gluten-free only frier along with a new serving window which will soon be in use to offer click and collect (pictured below). The new service window makes The Bay Fish & Chips even more accessible for people with wheelchairs and buggies.

The refurbishment will further reduce the carbon footprint to 115g of Co2 per each meal served, compared to 1100g generated in similar businesses. In addition, The Bay will continue its long-standing relationship with Vegware who supply 100% compostable packaging helping to banishing the use of single use packaging.
Calum Richardson, Owner and Chef at The Bay Fish & Chips said:
“We’re delighted with the finished result here at The Bay, it’s a fantastic way to kick start 2020. Sustainability has always been a key pillar of our culture and it’s what we instil in all of our employees. Not only is the revamp great to look at but the new state of the art equipment is both energy efficient and environmentally friendly which is crucial to the future of the business.
“We closed our doors in January for 16 days to complete the refit and our customers absolutely love the new look. Investing in equipment like our new gluten-free zero emissions fryer will benefit our customers as well as the environment. Sustainability will continue to be at the top of our agenda and we will strive to champion this as long as the doors are open.”
The Bay Fish & Chips is open from 12pm Monday to Sunday offering a menu of take-away classics which can be viewed on its website.
