Aberdeen Restaurant Week Returns | AD

Like Whoopi Goldberg getting back into the habit in Sister Act 2, I’ll be proudly slipping back into the eating jeans as I return as an ambassador for Aberdeen Restaurant Week 2019 (organised by Aberdeen Inspired).

When I was asked to be part of the bloggers team for last year’s Aberdeen Restaurant Week, chuffed would be playing it down, I was ecstatic. Think Halle Berry’s reaction to her Oscar win in 2002 (video reference here) that was pretty much me; minus the Oscar… and the dress.

Last year, I ate my way through Aberdeen enjoying Italian delights, Scottish tastes and devouring burgers as big as my head and I cannot wait to do it all over again in a few weeks time *tucks napkin into collar*.

To get you up to speed with this year’s food filled week, I’ve pulled together everything you need to know in nine bite-sized chunks.

1 – Wait, I’m lost.  What’s this you’re on about?

Aberdeen Restaurant Week (ARW) is where city centre restaurants come together for one week to showcase the dining opportunities available to diners through a showcase of culinary sensations and unmissable offers.

2 – When’s it back?

Clear your diaries, ARW returns from Monday 4 – Sunday 10 February.

3 – What’s new?

The two-course lunch and three-course dinner options still remain this year but joining them are tasting menus, afternoon teas and events too. Shining out for me is the 5-course tasting menu with paired wines at No.10 and “Sunday Dining with Jazz” at Cafe Boheme on the final day of ARW.

4 – What restaurants are signed up?

Over 30 restaurants have signed up, giving you plenty to explore and can all be found on the ARW website here. I’ll be reviewing Tippling House this year and I can’t wait to plough through the menu.

5 – Where would you recommend?

Along with Tippling House, it’s all about the cafes for me. Make sure to head to Cafe 52, Cafe Boheme and Cafe Harmony for tastes of Scotland, Italy and France in quirky and unique settings that will certainly leave you with memorable experiences.

6 – How much we talking?

Many associate eating out to when you have a plenty of pennies in the bank, but during ARW you have a cost-effective opportunity to dine out. £10 for a two-course lunch and £20 for a three-course dinner, you really can’t miss such a good deal.

7 – When can I eat?

Most places will be serving both lunch, afternoon tea and dinner options, however double check with the restaurant when you book that the ARW deal applies.

8 – How do I book?

Call your restaurant directly, quote “Aberdeen Restaurant Week” and the restaurant team will take it from there. It really is that simple.

9 – Why should I go?

If you’re still not convinced, this is your chance to explore the many food options in Aberdeen. Whether you’re new to the city, not sure where to go or just want to try something new; you have the perfect opportunity to try the fantastic food offerings found in the heart of the city.

10 – Should I be taking pictures?

UH, YES! If you’re like me and take pictures of your food before you eat (yes, I’m that guy), make sure to share on on social by using #ARW2019 and #ComeDineWithUs in your posts and show some love to the restaurant my mentioning them too.

So, there’s your run-down of ARW and the only thing left to do is get researching those menus and book your table.
